Shaw's Creek Subwatershed Study

Evaluating potential climate change and aggregate operation impacts in Shaw's Creek Subwatershed.  Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team for Credit Valley Conservation, AquaResource is evaluating groundwater flow conditions and groundwater/surface water interactions, under existing and future conditions. Shaw's Creek Subwatershed is largely undeveloped but the predominance of sand and gravel provides an important groundwater recharge and discharge function. Climate change, aggregate operations and development in neighbouring subwatersheds have the potential to impact these functions.  AquaResource has refined the local conceptual model of groundwater flow through spatial analysis of existing and new information and refined the existing regional groundwater flow model developed by AquaResource to simulate existing conditions in the subwatershed. Future aggregate and climate change scenarios will be completed to evaluate the potential impacts on the recharge and discharge functions and development Best Management Plans to mitigate these potential impacts.  For additional information about this project, please contact Daron Abbey.
