Northwest Brampton Landscape Analysis and Subwatershed Study
Working with Blackport & Associates as part of a larger multi-disciplinary team, AquaResource will update the understanding of the existing groundwater flow system at the subwatershed scale for the City of Brampton and its partners.
The hydrogeologic analysis will utilize cross-sectional and spatial analysis of existing datasets to locally refine an existing groundwater model developed by AquaResource. The local system is dominated by fractured till at surface that greatly influences the rate of groundwater recharge. The simulation of existing and predicted future condition scenarios (including climate change) will provide the larger study team with an understanding of the sensitivity of groundwater system to various development scenarios.
The team will use the simulation results to identify the spatial distribution of groundwater recharge and discharge under each scenario and identify linkages with other components of ecosystem, such as surface water flow and fish habitat. The integrated analysis will be used to provide recommendations on Best Management Practices for new developments in Northwest Brampton.
