Region of Waterloo Water Quantity Risk Assessment
AquaResource Supports the Region of Waterloo in a Groundwater Quantity Study. AquaResource is working closely with the Region of Waterloo to undertake a detailed evaluation of the groundwater resources within the Region. This study is a requirement of the Province of Ontario’s Clean Water Act (Bill 43) and is focused on the urban wellfields within the Cities of Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge, as well as a few surrounding wellfields. The goal of this study is to identify drinking water threats that may pose a negative impact on the long term sustainability of the Region’s water supplies. The understanding gained in this study will help the Region manage their water resources for current and future generations. The assessment will focus on a refined hydrogeological and geological understanding of the urban wellfield areas, and a subsequent refinement and application of advanced groundwater and surface water modeling tools. AquaResource is the lead consultant on this team and is pleased to be working with experienced hydrogeologist from Stantec Consulting Ltd., S.S. Papadopulos and Associates, Golder and Associates and Blackport Hydrogeology Inc.
