Long Point, Catfish, and Kettle Creek Tier 2 Water Budget Study

AquaResource and Blackport & Associates have recently been awarded the Tier 2 Water Budget and Stress Assessment for Long Point Region, Kettle and Catfish Conservation Authority’s.

Working closely with CA staff, and Blackport Associates, this project will quantify all significant components of the Water Budget, as well as identify subwatersheds that have a potential for water taking-related stress.  The Tier 2 Water Budget, in support of the Clean Water Act, involves gaining an improved understanding of both water supply and demand.  Existing surface water models (GAWSER) and groundwater flow models (FEFLOW) will be updated, and coupled together to gain a complete, and integrated, view of the hydrologic cycle.  Agricultural water use will be a significant focus of the project, with improved techniques and analysis used to better quantify irrigation water requirements.

This project will be completed in late 2007. For more information about this project, contact Paul Martin.
