Saugeen-Grey-Bruce Water Budget
AquaResource was recently awarded the contract to develop the Conceptual Geologic and Three-Dimensional Groundwater Model for the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority, Grey Sauble Conservation Authority and the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula (Saugeen-Grey-Bruce Study Area).
The study will include 1) development of a database and linked GIS suite of tools to effectively store, view and interpret geologic and hydrogeologic information, 2) Interpretation of available information to develop a 3D conceptual hydrogeologic model for the study area, 3) development and calibration of the 3D groundwater flow model, and 4) application of the model for water budgeting purposes. The groundwater model being developed will also be linked with available the surface water modeling.
This project will provide the study area with a regional, complex, water budgeting tool for use in source water protection measures. The approach is consistent with the most recent water budget guidance being developed by the province, which AquaResource is helping to prepare.
The water budgeting developed through this study will provide the Saugeen-Grey-Bruce study area with a solid foundation for the management of water resources for current and future generations.
